[MUSIC] Albums That Never Leave My iPhone
July 17, 2012
With Frank Ocean’s amazing album Channel ORANGE out everywhere, I wanted to share a list of albums that are consistently being played on my iPhone. I love hip-hop and I basically listen to it every single day but I grew up listening to rock, alternative, electronic, pop, and R&B as well. So I have a good mix of music on my iPhone that will keep things fresh. Now let’s get to it! Here is the list of albums/mixtapes that will never leave my iPhone:
Bon Iver – Bon Iver: This album is amazing! The music on Bon Iver is so soothing that I can listen to it when I sleep and on those long car rides. Perfect for when you’re with your special someone to calm things down. This album will even spark some emotional memories that you had. Very moving and powerful album.
Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne: I mean come on. This is an incredible fun album to listen to. It has so many hits and replay value. The album is filled with the best producers in hip-hop and to hear the two icons, Jay-Z and Kanye West trade verses back and forth is priceless. So far, I’ve played this album the most than any other album on my iTunes library.
The Weeknd – House Of Balloons: I think this is The Weeknd’s best album or mixtape (whatever the hell you wanna call it). House Of Balloons is filled with nine unique records that you won’t hear anywhere else. I love playing it at night because the music and The Weeknd’s voice is like an escape.
Justin Timberlake – FutureSex/LoveSound: Just one of the best albums ever created. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland changed the genre of pop with this album. FutureSex/LoveSound cannot be copied. I love how they blended of hip-hop/electronic/dance. Who doesn’t love My Love?! Classic? YES!
Frank Ocean – Channel ORANGE: Love, love, love this album! I’m a sucker for soft soulful love music and on Channel ORANGE you can find all that! It’s filled with so much emotions and the music that Frank Ocean created is classic. Love listening to this album when I’m writing blog posts and in the evening. Really makes me think. Channel ORANGE is slowly booming my addiction. Been playing it non-stop everyday since it’s release.
Jay-Z – The Blueprint 3: Yes, I know, there are so many Jay-Z albums and why did I pick The Blueprint 3? Well, ever since Jay-Z released this I couldn’t stop playing it! It’s such a fun fucking album to listen to! Jay’s voice is so relaxed on all the records. Love playing Blueprint 3 in the car and when I’m working out. I dare you to play On To The Next One and not dance! Fellas, the ladies love Swizzy!
Wiz Khalifa – Taylor Allderdice: THIS is what Wiz Khaifa’s album Rolling Papers should have sounded like! Amazing, to think this was released for free. Every time I play Taylor Allderdice I feel like I have to roll one up. The whole mixtape from beginning to end is great to listen to when riding down the street and at a party. Easy hip-hop listening. Goes down smooth, like a blunt. HA!
Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: This album will NEVER leave my iPhone. Even though I don’t play it everyday, it’s like the hip-hop bible. Kanye went all out on this album. He brought back his inner hip-hop grime. There is so much detail to every track. This is a true blueprint for all up and coming artists. Love playing Devil In A New Dress loud on the highway!
SBTRKT – SBTRKT: This album puts me in such a zone. Sampha’s voice on Hold On and Jessie Ware’s voice on Right Thing To Do just makes my mind and body relaxed, but at the same time I feel like dancing! The fellows of SBTRKT are just geniuses! The music on SBTRKT is like dubstep/house/soul. Every time I’m walking the streets of Toronto, I love playing this album. After seeing them live in Toronto, I just got to love them even more!
Common – The Dreamer / The Believer: You have the legendary NO I.D. and Common creating amazing raw hip-hop records! Love the old samples used on this album. Common never disappoints when it comes to making thought provocation music. If I ever need inspiration, I love listening to The Dreamer / The Believer.
There you have it! Currently, these are the albums that I keep going back to, even though there is new music coming out every single day. I also add/remove Kings Of Leon – Come Around Sundown, The Internet – Purple Naked Ladies, Koop – Waltz For Koop, and Drake – Take Care on my iPhone time to time. But the list above is always ready to go, no matter what! I wonder what new albums this year will be added to my permanent collection?
I would love to know what albums/mixtapes you can’t get rid off your iPhone/iPod!
